Support for emotional release in yoga
Regular and committed yoga practice stimulates change on a number of levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Even if you are actively seeking these changes, they don’t always occur smoothly and easily. Many yoga practitioners experience some of the following as a result of intense practice, or breakthrough in their practice:
- heightened emotional responses that can feel rather out of control (e.g. anger, anxiety, sadness)
- increased awareness of old patterns
- re-surfacing of old issues
- increase in distractedness, low level anxiety, feeling over stimulated
Through my connection with a local yoga school I have had the pleasure of working with a number of yoga practitioners when they have had difficulty dealing with the feelings and issues that have come up in their yoga practice.
Each yoga practitioner I have worked with has had different needs. Some needed just one or two appointments to get them through an intense phase. Some chose a series of appointments to work progressively with old issues. The benefits my clients have had collectively include:
